Headline: “Al-Haq to Wattan: The UN rapporteur will send a letter to President Abbas against the electronic crimes law”

“Director-General of the [independent Palestinian human rights NGO] Al-Haq Institute Shawan Jabarin revealed to [the independent Palestinian news agency] Wattan that UN Special Rapporteur David Kaye will urgently send a letter to [PA] President [Mahmoud] Abbas regarding the electronic crimes law that is being implemented in Palestine.

Jabarin explained that: ‘The UN special rapporteur has comprehensive information about the law, and we’ve asked him to intervene with the PA. He promised us that he will send a letter to President Mahmoud Abbas, in which he will express his opinion on the matter, and that the law in its current form constitutes a violation of the basic principles of the human rights law and the State of Palestine’s commitments according to the conventions that it has signed.’”
