Zaki: Killing of terrorist stabber “is a crime”
Headline: "Fatah Movement Central Committee member [Abbas Zaki] to Al-Ahram Al-Arabi: There is no victory without Egypt and there is no peace without Syria"
"[Q:] 'The latest Jerusalem crisis began with shooting at the Al-Aqsa Mosque (i.e., terror attack, 2 murdered) and ended with shooting in Amman (i.e., Israeli security guard shot and killed terrorist in self-defense, accidentally also killing a bystander) – can you explain this?'
[Fatah Central Committee member and Fatah Commissioner for Arab and China Relations Abbas Zaki:] 'Each one of them is different from the other, and I cannot judge what happened in Jordan, but what happened there is a crime, and I think things are escalating there.'
[Q:] 'In the framework of the latest events in Jerusalem (i.e., Israeli security measures enacted after a lethal terror attack; see note below), it could be seen that the religious sources of authority took the central role upon themselves, and some think that these sources of authority are employed by Jordan; what do you think about this equation?'
[Abbas Zaki:] 'There is unity on the ground, and most of the Fatah leaders were arrested, detained, and temporarily expelled from Jerusalem. I do not think that the religious bodies of authority are the ones making the decision, but rather that in light of the Al-Aqsa Mosque’s prestige and greatness they sided with the leadership on the ground, and the political leadership stood behind the religious authorities, and we all complemented each other.'"

Ziv Moyal - Israeli security guard at the Israeli embassy in Amman, Jordan, shot and killed a Jordanian terrorist who stabbed him with a screwdriver outside the embassy on July 23, 2017. Moyal accidentally shot and killed a bystander in the process, and took refuge in the embassy. Amid Jordanian threats to sentence him to death, the following day Israel secured his return and the return of the entire embassy staff, opened an investigation into the incident, and agreed to pay compensation to the family of the bystander. The move came the same night that Israel decided to remove the metal detectors and security cameras it had placed at the Temple Mount entrances following a terror attack there on July 14, 2017, in which three Israeli Arab terrorists murdered 2 Israeli border police officers.
"The latest events in Jerusalem" refers to Israeli security measures at the Temple Mount, including metal detectors at the entrances, following an attack there on July 14, 2017, in which 2 Israeli border police officers were murdered by 3 Israeli Arab terrorists. On July 24, 2017, Israel decided to remove the metal detectors and security cameras it had placed at the site. The PA continued to demand that all measures including inspections at the entrances be removed, and Palestinians continued to riot. On July 27, 2017, PA religious leaders declared that all Israeli measures had been removed.
