Top British legal firm King and Spalding to represent “the Palestinian cause” in British courts, after Palestinian court rules “the cursed Balfour Promise is void”

Official PA TV News, on the Nablus Trial Court ruling that the Balfour Declaration is void

Official PA TV reporter: “The cursed Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration) is void according to a Palestinian legal ruling, which was given at a sentencing following a lawsuit submitted by nine national figures who are representing the Palestinians wherever they are.”

Director of The High Follow-Up Committee for Arab Citizens of Israel and former Israeli Arab Member of Parliament Muhammad Barakeh: “The Palestinian people, which was the victim of Zionism and British colonialism, needs to have its say. This is a topic that Britain and Zionism need to be asked about and judged on. Today we are taking a significant step by trying Britain in a Palestinian court. This decision will constitute a basis for suing it at courts in Britain and at international courts.”

Head of the Supreme Muslim Council and head preacher at the Al-Aqsa Mosque Sheikh Ikrima Sabri: “This [lawsuit] is symbolic, clarifying that the Palestinian people rejects this [Balfour] Promise and also rejects that which stemmed from this promise, which is the establishment of the State [of Israel] in the heart of the Arab lands.”

Reporter: “The Nablus Trial Court’s decision constitutes a legal basis, and it prepares the path for suing Britain before British and international courts for the crime of the era, in which one who has no ownership gave to one who has no right.”

Chairman of the National Association of Self-Employed People Munib Al-Masri: “The next step is at the courts of London, Allah willing, and we have reached an agreement with the most important [legal] firm in Britain, namely the King and Spalding firm, which will lead the court (sic., lawsuit) there. They are two of the most important legal people in the world, so they will defend the Palestinian cause.”

The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that "His Majesty's government views with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people." In 1922, the League of Nations adopted this and made the British Mandate "responsible for putting into effect the declaration," which led to the UN vote in favor of partitioning Mandatory Palestine into a Jewish state and an Arab state in 1947. In response, Britain ended its mandate on May 15, 1948, and the Palestinian Jews, who accepted the Partition Plan, declared the independent State of Israel. The Palestinian Arabs rejected the plan and together with 7 Arab states attacked Israel, in what is now known as Israel's War of Independence.
