Jews have “no connection” to the Land of Israel, claims PA minister

PA Minister of Culture Atef Abu Saif: “As Palestinians, we have a great responsibility to preserve our culture and its components. We may be the only people in the world in which a child- the young woman still remembers the clothing her grandmother wore 2,000 years ago (sic., the Palestinians have no history prior to the modern period). Not because we live in the past, but because this past has shaped our current identity, and because this past is what the occupation wants to uproot in order to plant itself in this land, to which it has no connection – not archaeologically and not historically (sic., an abundance of archaeological evidence has conclusively documented the ancient Jewish history in Israel)…

In this city [of Bethlehem], as you said in your introduction, in itthe first Palestinian was born, lord messiah [Jesus], peace be upon him… These cities [of Bethlehem and Jerusalem] have a global character. In other words, it is true that they are clearly Palestinian, and it is true that our Palestinian ancestors are the ones who built this city before the presence of the three monotheistic religions in it.”
