Speaker of Al-Aqsa warns of Israel`s "criminal plans" against Al-Aqsa Mosque; Israel replaces Arab and Islamic landmarks in Jerusalem with false Jewish ones
"Speaker at the Al-Aqsa Mosque and first deputy to the Chairman of the Supreme Islamic Council in Jerusalem, Sheikh Yusuf Jum'a Salameh, warned against a plan presented by two [Israeli] Members of Parliament, which includes a proposed law stating that the occupied city of Jerusalem is 'the capital of Israel and the Jewish people'. Salameh emphasized that the city of Jerusalem has been an Islamic Arab city throughout history. Salameh also warned against the criminal plans which the occupation authorities intend to carry out against the Al-Aqsa Mosque: they have announced a plan to establish an underground synagogue for women to pray in, under the Al-Buraq (Western Wall) Plaza. He warned of the dire consequences of establishing this synagogue, since it would be considered a severe escalation [of the conflict]. He stated that the aim of the occupation authorities in doing this is to extend their influence over the Al-Buraq Plaza, such that the area of the Al-Buraq Wall would be entirely under Israeli control, as well as changing all the Arab and Islamic landmarks in the area and replacing them with false Jewish landmarks."
