Prisoner Husam Omar’s fiancée Ala’ Rumeilat: “My relationship with a prisoner [Husam Omar] is like the relationship of any young woman with a young man who has a right to be happy and live. Husam Omar has sacrificed 21 years of his life. What prevents me from sacrificing and waiting 14 years?... My brother [Uday] told me a lot about him and said that Husam loves good deeds, loves to help others, and this attracted me to get to know Husam. The relationship between us was only based on what my brother told me; I didn’t know him personally. Until the day his sister came and asked if I was ready to get engaged. My initial answer was no, until she asked me: ‘Even if the groom is Husam Omar?’ I told her: ‘Husam is a man who cannot be refused, and I’m full of pride to get engaged to him.’”
