“The [PA] Ministry of Culture published 50 books that were printed before the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel), as part of its efforts to revive the Palestinian cultural heritage…

[PA] Minister of Culture Atef Abu Saif said: ‘[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas instructed to print all the books and compositions that were published in the land before the Nakba, in order to preserve the heritage of our ancestors and strengthen our national narrative regarding the land.’ …

He added: ‘Palestine was a place of pilgrimage for everyone seeking knowledge… Our mission is to remind [people of] this eternal fact, in order to debunk the false Zionist perceptions and claims regarding Palestine in the period before the arrival of the invaders (i.e., Jewish immigrants to the Land of Israel). Our mission is also to preserve the memory of our ancestors and their heritage, so that our children will continue to fight for the restoration of our rights.’”
