Abbas calls all Palestinians to unite around PLO to deal with the Israeli “crimes”

Posted text: “[PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas] receives a delegation of the Popular Front [for the Liberation of Palestine] (PFLP) that is participating in the conference of secretary-generals [of Palestinian factions].
During the meeting, the president emphasized the essential need to invest all efforts in the success of the conference of secretary-generals, and in achieving national unity to deal with the crimes being committed by the occupation against our people, our land, and our holy sites. He emphasized that the great challenges standing before our Palestinian cause, whose goal is to eliminate our national project, require all the Palestinians to unite around the PLO, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
The PFLP delegation emphasized its great diligence to achieve national unity, in which our people and its just cause has a great interest.
The president arrived today in El Alamein in the Arab Republic of Egypt for an official visit, in which he met with his Egyptian counterpart [President] Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and he will lead the conference of secretary-generals of the Palestinian factions that is being held in Egypt.
Present at the meeting were Deputy Secretary-General of the PFLP Jamil Mazhar, PLO Executive Committee Secretary Hussein Al-Sheikh, [PLO] Executive Committee member Ziyad Abu Omar, Head of [PA] General Intelligence Service Gen. Majed Faraj, [PA] President [Mahmoud Abbas’] Advisor on Religious Affairs [and Islamic Relations] Mahmoud Al-Habbash, and General Supervisor of the Official [PA] Media [with the rank of] Minister Ahmad Assaf.”

Hussein Al-Sheikh also serves as Head of the PLO Negotiations Affairs Department, Fatah Central Committee member, and Head of Civil Affairs in the PA.
Mahmoud Al-Habbash also serves as Chairman of the Supreme Council for Shari'ah Justice. In August 2019 PA Chairman Abbas dismissed all his advisors by Presidential decree. It is unclear what their status is today.
Ahmad Assaf also serves as General Supervisor of Fatah-run Awdah TV.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) - a socialist Palestinian terror organization and one of the largest factions in the PLO. Founded by George Habash in 1967, PFLP has planned and carried out numerous terror attacks against Israeli civilians since its founding and throughout the PA terror campaign (the second Intifada, 2000-2005). One of its most high profile attacks was the murder of Israeli Minister of Tourism Rehavam Ze'evi on Oct. 17, 2001. PFLP has been designated as a terror organization by several states including the US, Japan, Canada, Australia, and the EU.Terrorist prisoner Ahmad Sa’adat has served as PFLP’s secretary-general since 2001; he is serving a 30-year sentence in an Israeli prison for heading the PFLP.
