PA Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs: Israeli prisons have a “policy of slow death”
"Minister of Prisoners' Affairs, Issa Karake, visited the home of the family of prisoner Ahed Abu Ghulma, in Ramallah… Karake said that the visit to Ahed's home was intended to draw attention to the policy of solitary confinement, considered one of the most oppressive and severe punishments against prisoners, and representing a policy of slow death, as the prisoners refer to it…
It should be noted that the prisoner Abu Ghulma has been in the Ashkelon prison for two years. He was arrested in March, 2006, when occupation forces raided the Jericho prison and arrested him together with Ahmad Sa'adat and Fuad Al-Shubaki. He was given a life sentence. Since his imprisonment he has been placed in solitary confinement, and has been deprived of family visits, canteen, books, and newspapers."
Note: Ahed Abu Ghulma – involved in planning the assassination of Israeli Minister of Tourism Rehavam Ze'evi.
Ahmad Sa'adat – serving a 30-year sentence for heading the PFLP terror organization. A song at a PFLP event also praised him for planning the assassination of Israeli Minister of Tourism Rehavam Ze'evi in 2001, but he has not been tried for this crime.
Fuad Al-Shubaki – serving 20 years in prison for involvement in the Karine A affair, in which 50 tons of illegal weapons were found aboard a Palestinian ship in 2002.
