Sports Association calls for boycott of Adidas because it sponsored an Israeli marathon in Jerusalem
"Secretary General of the National Committee for the Struggle Against Normalization in Sports and head of the Palestinian Association for Martial Arts, Jihad Uweida, praised the response of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports… to the (Palestinian and Arab) media campaign, launched by Jerusalem's Sport Federations Group, the National Committee for Resistance to Normalization, and the Pal-Sport Agency, with the demand that Adidas cancel its sponsorship [of the Jerusalem marathon], or at least that it demand that the Jerusalem municipality change the marathon route. On behalf of himself and on behalf of the National Committee, Uweida expressed his appreciation for the Arab decision to boycott Adidas products and to organize a marathon under the slogan of Jerusalem [in response to the Israeli marathon]… Uweida, as head of the Palestinian Association for Martial Arts, asked his colleagues, the heads of sports associations and clubs, to avoid wearing or purchasing sportswear with the Adidas logo. He said that Palestinian stores offer Palestinian sportswear that says 'Made in Palestine', and added that we must buy these [products], even if they are of lower quality than the others. Uweida also said that the National Committee for the Struggle Against Normalization in Sports will be expanding from the local scene to the Arab surroundings, following the waves that it has created in the few months of its existence."
