Arab Sports Council seeks to hold a marathon in all Arab capitals under the slogan “Jerusalem is ours”

"President Mahmoud Abbas yesterday applauded the recent decisions of the Council of Arab Ministers of Youth and Sports at its convention, which was decisive with regard to the matter of Jerusalem and resistance to all efforts to blur its Arabness. He expressed his great appreciation for the Council's decision to hold an Arab marathon in all Arab capitals, under the slogan 'Jerusalem is Ours'. The President denounced the Israeli politicization of sports and the 'Adidas' sponsoring of a political sports demonstration that violates the resolutions of international legitimacy [reference to the marathon organized by the Jerusalem municipality]. He instructed that a national committee be established within the PLO Executive Committee, the Fatah Central Committee, the government, and the relevant NGO's, to organize a marathon in Palestine, in coordination with the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, on the 15th of May, corresponding to the commemoration of the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel)."
