Abbas' advisor: Israel "desecrates sanctity of holy religious sites," wants to "ignite a religious war against global peace"

Video title: "Dr. Mahmoud Al-Habbash's interview with [Fatah-run] Awdah TV about the dangers of the occupation's (i.e., Israel's) attempts to ignite a religious war against global peace"

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Advisor on Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash: "The ongoing [Israeli] desecration of the sanctity of holy religious sites, whether they are Islamic or Christian, and particularly the desecration of the sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and giving the settler herds (i.e., Jews) permission to roam inside it, invade it, and conduct Jewish religious ceremonies, [comes] amid open provocation of the Muslims' sensibilities and aggression against the sanctity of the mosque and against the history and identity of the blessed mosque, which is an Islamic waqf (i.e., an inalienable religious endowment in Islamic law) and a purely Islamic mosque that no one but the Muslims may control or hold any kind of worship in it...

Even to the latest aggressive and criminal action against sister Syria two days ago they gave a biblical name, "Arrow of the Bashan," as if they want to say to the world and to us that this war is a war on religion, religious concepts, and religious values."

[PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Advisor on Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash, YouTube channel, Dec. 12, 2024]

"Arrow of the Bashan" - refers to Israel capturing strategic positions in the Golan Heights and destroying the majority of the Syrian army's weaponry following the fall of Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime.

The PA and its leaders misrepresent all of the Temple Mount as an integral part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Therefore, they vilify any presence of Jews on the mount as an "invasion." It should be noted that Jews who visit the Temple Mount only enter some sections of the open areas, and do not enter the Al-Aqsa Mosque or the Dome of the Rock. Israeli police ban Jewish prayer at the Temple Mount because of threats of violence by Palestinians.
