Abbas’ advisor: Hamas is only interested in remaining in power, not in the Palestinian people

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Advisor on Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash: "A war is not being waged in the traditional sense between two armies or two forces. This is a war that Israel is waging against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip... The problem is that there is still a movement controlling Hamas that is interested only in remaining in power, even at the expense of the Palestinian people... The matter has turned into a game: A game in which there are those (i.e., Hamas) who want to improve their own conditions and positions, at the expense of the Palestinian people... There are those who trade politically in the interests of the Palestinian people. Every faction, and particularly Hamas – if it is interested in the interest of the Palestinian people – must listen to the opinion of the people in the Gaza Strip."
