Abbas’ advisor against Trump plan for Gaza: Gazans are refugees, should resettle in Israel
PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Advisor on Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash: "If [US President] Trump wants to solve the overpopulation problem in the Gaza Strip, he should know that over 70% of the Gaza Strip are Palestinian refugees who took refuge in the Gaza Strip during the Palestinian Nakba (i.e., "the catastrophe," the establishment of Israel) in 1948. The solution is simple and easy: To return them to the cities and villages from which they were forcibly removed in 1948, then there will be no problem, and everyone will live in security, peace, and stability."

Al-Habbash's statement is a reaction to a plan for Gaza put forth by US President Donald Trump during the 2023 Gaza war:
