Abbas’ advisor: We want Hamas to join the PLO with their weapons

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Advisor on Religious Affairs and Islamic Relations Mahmoud Al-Habbash: "What we very clearly want from the Hamas Movement is for it to return to the Palestinian national fold, to the PLO, and that it will hand over the leadership of the Palestinian people to its sole legitimate representative, [the PLO]. Hamas has no right to represent the Palestinian people. It has no right to even claim that it represents the Palestinian people, neither does any other faction, not just Hamas… The abundance of weapons, systems, and authorities means the disintegration of Palestinian society. We are not interested in this. We want everyone with their weapons to join the framework of the PLO."
