EU funds PA police academy and gives further 20 million euros for other projects

“Prime Minister Salam Fayyad, and President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso… inaugurated the Palestinian Academy for Security Sciences in Jericho… The Prime Minister [Fayyad] thanked the European Union and Canada for their important and vital help in establishing the police academy… At the end of the ceremony, Fayyad and Barroso signed an agreement according to which the European Union will transfer to the Palestinian Authority €20,000,000 … to develop a number of projects, foremost among them the construction of eight police stations in rural areas, and the construction of a rehabilitation and training center in the Jenin district.”
