Fatah: Israel has "schemes" to "control" Al-Aqsa Mosque and remove all Arab presence from the area

Headline: "Fatah: Occupation's schemes against Al-Aqsa [Mosque] will push the region into a cycle of violence"
"The Fatah National Liberation Movement warned of Israeli schemes to seize control of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, as preparation for eliminating the Palestinian and Islamic-Christian Arab presence from this holy area, through proposed racist legislation to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque between Muslims and Jews, or to convert its plazas into public parks. Fatah spokesman Ahmed Asaf said, in a press release yesterday of the Commission of Information and Culture: 'We view these laws, and the Israeli activity against Al-Aqsa and occupied Jerusalem, as blatant aggression, which we will not accept in silence.' Asaf stressed: 'The occupation government alone is responsible for the consequences of what is being done today against Al-Aqsa. The world must not remain silent at these crimes, which will push the entire region into a cycle of violence whose results no one can predict.' He added: 'The Al-Aqsa Mosque is part of the Muslim faith, not only in Palestine, but throughout the world, and it is one of our national principles for which the leader Yasser Arafat died as a Martyr (Shahid), and to which President Mahmoud Abbas adheres today.' He stressed: 'We shall defend our Al-Aqsa at all costs.'"
