Ali Shaath, head of new Gaza committee: "The Israeli occupation has absolute control through exerting military force and through the arbitrary laws being legislated for us – the military laws – to prevent construction in the so-called Area C for example (i.e., areas under full Israeli control according to the Oslo Accords)… and also to negate from us the natural resources that Israel has stolen such as the oil in Rantis (i.e., Meged oil field). In the area of Rantis there are oil wells, and Israel is occupying it – it is Area C – it is stealing this oil. Israel is openly and publicly stealing the gas in the Mediterranean Sea, and no one is preventing it."
