There are no “historical foundations” for Israel's existence, “no Jewish people with national characteristics” - Lebanese politician
Head of the Socialist Arab Lebanon Vanguard Party Hassan Bayan: "Palestine was not the only goal, but rather the entire Arab nation and the national enterprise as a whole – the start of this plan and the prelude to its establishment are the conclusions of the [Campbell-] Bannerman Committee 1905-1907 when Palestine was chosen to be the land where the effort would be focused and which would be occupied and given to the Zionists to serve a role… We view Israel as a state that was established to fulfill a role, which lacks historical foundations. It is not a national state because there is no Jewish people with national characteristics. There are groups of people from different nationalities that the colonial enterprise gathered to plant them in the important area of the Arab homeland."
