US created Israel to “divide Arabs” and “steal oil”, but has become “a burden” – Palestinian journalist

Al-Quds Daily Washington bureau reporter and former Spokesman of UN delegation to Iraq Sa'id Erekat: "Israel has lost its effectiveness as it was fundamentally marketed – that "Israel protects our homefront," that "Israel is a forward base for us, as it protects the oil and leaves the Arabs divided, so we can take the oil at a low price," and the like. This is what all the American leaders said in the past. That there are two priorities in the Middle East: The first is oil and the second is Israel, and both are connected. But now in my estimation, the moment will come when the US feels that Israel is a big burden, a very big burden. It cannot sustain itself, it fundamentally relies on American support, especially military support, but also technological and economic support. It is a state that cannot stand on its own feet."
