Fatah official stresses the PA’s efforts to continue salaries to terrorists
Senior Fatah official in Lebanon Abu Iyad Sha'alan: "I address the families of the Martyrs, the prisoners, and the wounded (i.e., terrorists), with greetings and full appreciation for their resolve and for understanding the political and economic pressures being exerted on the PA regarding the salaries of the prisoners, the Martyrs, and the wounded… We emphasize that these families are a trust deposited to all the Palestinian national components, foremost among them the Palestinian leadership, and above all [PA] President Mahmoud Abbas, who has always been the pioneer and the first to defend the rights of these families…We in the Fatah Movement always say that the Martyrs are the noblest of people, and the prisoners are no less important than the Martyrs.We believe they died on the way to Palestine, for liberation… All of Fatah, with all its organizational components – the branches inside [Palestine] and abroad, the [Fatah] Revolutionary Council, the [Fatah] Central Committee, even the [PLO] Executive Committee, the [Palestinian] National Council (i.e., the legislative body of the PLO), and the [Palestinian] Central Council – all the Palestinian national institutions are interested in maintaining the continuity of the allowances for the families of the Martyrs and the wounded- and the prisoners…

Abu Iyad Sha'alan: "The Palestinian leadership made every effort to ensure the [payment of the] salaries and allowances of the families of the Martyrs. We are monitoring directly and daily the efforts of the Palestinian leadership and its actions to ensure [the payment of] these allowances.They managed to ensure the [payment of] last month's salary after an extreme effort.

Abu Iyad Sha'alan: "Of course, it is not closed and will not be closed. They are a trust deposited to us, which is in our hearts. They are a trust deposited to every free person, every fighter, every Fatah member, all the PLO factions... Therefore, we reassure them that we will not abandon any Martyr, prisoner, or wounded person."
