Arch-terrorist Abu Jihad “is a symbolic, moral and practical value for Fatah” - Fatah official

Fatah-run Awdah TV host: "Today, April 16, marks the 38th anniversary of the Martyrdom of leader Khalil Al-Wazir ‘Abu Jihad' (i.e., arch-terrorist), deputy general commander of the revolutionary forces and architect of the first Intifada, who was murdered by the Israeli Mossad … What did Khalil Al-Wazir ‘Abu Jihad' represent in the consciousness of Fatah and the Palestinian people?" …

Fatah Spokesman Iyad Abu Zneit: "Abu Jihad represents an ideological and symbolic force for the Palestinian people. Today, this value embodies the true Palestinian, the fighting Palestinian who sacrifices and gives everything for the homeland. Therefore, Abu Jihad represents a symbolic value, just as in his lifetime he represented the practical and true value that instilled meaning into Fatah and the Palestinian people, from which they draw hope and inspiration… Abu Jihad and all his comrades believed that the relations with the occupation (i.e., Israel) are relations of confrontation, and that rights cannot be achieved except through this confrontation. The first Intifada, which included the entire Palestinian society... proved to the whole world that the Palestinian people is… capable of achieving its rights when it wants, and that the relations with the occupier are relations of confrontation and cannot be relations of peace… When we talk about the genius of Abu Jihad, about his determination to achieve the Palestinian people's rights, we talk about Abu Jihad's thought, which was a source of authority… Therefore, Abu Jihad is a symbolic value, a moral value, and a practical value for Fatah."
