Norway - we won't stop funding UNWRA because of alleged acts committed by few

Headline: "Norway provided 24 million euros to UNRWA in order to deal with the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip"

"Norway, one of the only large donor states that did not suspend its funding to the [UN] Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees [in the Near East] – UNRWA (i.e., due to UNRWA's documented involvement in Hamas' terrorism during the 2023 Gaza war; see note below), announced on Wednesday [Feb. 7, 2024] that it provided UNRWA with 275 million kroner (24 million euros) [parentheses in source] (just under $26 million -Ed.) to enable it to deal with the catastrophic situation in the Gaza Strip…

In his statement, Norwegian Minister [of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide] commented on the Israeli accusations against UNRWA.

He said that ‘These accusations are shocking, and we demand full transparency. There must be no tolerance for this kind of behavior.' However, the minister completed [his words] and said: ‘However, we must not collectively punish millions of people because of acts that were allegedly committed by 12 employees (i.e., terrorists who participated in Hamas' invasion and massacre to launch its terror war on Israel).' He called on the rest of the donors ‘to examine the consequences' of their decision to freeze their funding to the UN agency.
