Reading exercise teaches Palestinian students they will “return” to “their” orange orchards in Jaffa in Israel
Narrator: "Sami sat next to his grandfather and asked him: Grandpa, what did you do when you were young?
The grandfather replied with a sad smile: Before we lived in the [refugee] camp, I was in Jaffa (i.e., Israeli city) and worked as a photographer. I photographed people on the beach, in the streets, and in the orange orchards.
The grandfather took out photo albums… and began to show Sami pictures: Look, Sami, all these orchards, the fields, the beautiful beach, and the white minaret. They were ours then, and we will return to them, however long it takes.
The grandfather… took out an old key, and said to Sami: My son, this is the key to our home in Jaffa. Keep it until we return."
