UNRWA must be protected as “only testimony” to Palestinian refugee issue

The PA's portrayal of UNRWA as the sole "testimony" to the 1948 war or so-called "right of return" politicizes the agency while promoting an agenda of erasing Israel.

Activist Ahlam Abu Al-Saud: "We are here today to support UNRWA, and we are telling the whole world that UNRWA is the testimony, it is the truth, and it is the one that supports our Palestinian people. Without it, the rights of the refugees and the displaced will be lost..."

Fatah Movement central Gaza Strip regional branch leadership member Adel Al-Tawil: "UNRWA is the only testimony to the Nakba (i.e., the "catastrophe" of the establishment of Israel) of our Palestinian people, and therefore we must protect its institutions and bodies."

PA TV reporter: "The Popular Committee [for Refugee Affairs] characterized the termination of UNRWA's work as a decision intended to eliminate the refugee issue and put an end to the dream of return."

Palestinian National Council Committee for Refugee Affairs Chairman Walid Al-Awadh: "Everyone discussed these dangers and challenges and the ways to conduct broad popular activity that will oppose these statements and will emphasize that the Palestinian people stands by their rights, stands by the refugees' right of return to their homes, and stand by UNRWA's continued existence as a testament to the Palestinian people's suffering and the crisis they have been going through since 1948 (i.e., the establishment of Israel)."
