Palestinian Authority keeps attacking PMW – now tenth time in three months
The Palestinian Authority's official news agency, WAFA, has once again attacked Palestinian Media Watch and the Israeli media for using PMW research.
In its regular feature called "WAFA monitors incitement and racism in the Israeli media," WAFA summarized a Makor Rishon article about PMW's exposure of the PA's newly promoted term "Wholocide."
The term combines "whole," "genocide," and the Arabic word ahwal—"horrors" or "atrocities"—to describe what PA sources claim is destruction even worse than "regular genocide."
WAFA quoted the Israeli article's description of PMW's findings:
Headline: "WAFA monitors incitement and racism in the Israeli media"
"Makor Rishon incited against Palestinian institutions, primarily the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian news agency WAFA, [by presenting them] as a deliberate deception system. This is aimed at undermining the credibility of the Palestinian narrative and obscuring the colonial context of the war and the settlement enterprise.
In an article titled ‘Wholocide: Genocide wasn't enough for the Palestinians, so they invented a new concept,' [the newspaper] said that the Palestinian Media Watch center exposed a new Palestinian narrative (in the original Hebrew: 'blood libel') [parentheses in source] according to which the term 'genocide' is no longer sufficient to describe what is happening in Gaza and therefore a new term must be given to the situation: ‘Wholocide,' which is worse than regular genocide.
(The newspaper added:) [parentheses in source] The Palestinian Authority claims that Israel's 'genocide' in Gaza is so extreme that the situation requires the creation of a new term to describe it. This is what WAFA, the official news agency of the Palestinian Authority, writes, as revealed by the Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) organization.
(It further added:) [parentheses in source] The new Palestinian narrative (in the original Hebrew: 'blood libel') [parentheses in source] combines the word 'Whole,' meaning 'complete,' with the term 'Genocide,' meaning 'genocide,' to create a new concept called 'Wholocide,' or 'Holocide' – to describe the complete or total destruction, which is worse than regular genocide. The new term also includes the Arabic word 'Ahwal,' meaning 'atrocities.'"
[WAFA, official PA news agency, July 27, 2026]
Almost weekly, WAFA has used Israeli media articles citing PMW's documentation of official PA statements to attack PMW under the heading of "incitement and racism."
A PA commentator previously complained that PMW monitors PA media "day and night," stating that PMW was likely watching, recording, and preparing reports even as he spoke. He was correct. PMW monitors the PA day and night and will continue to do so.
