In a letter sent to Hassam (the organization of prisoners and released prisoners) the prisoners said that on the morning after they arrived, prison authorities gave them rotten food that included a putrid egg that had turned reddish from the poisonous material arsenic, spoiled leben (similar to sour cream), and very moldy bread – all aimed at poisoning them to death.”
