Abbas: Christians and Muslims are “the original residents of Jerusalem”

PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas addressed the Third Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in Riyadh in January 2013:
     “My brothers, Jerusalem is in grave danger, and the danger to Al-Aqsa and our Islamic and Christian holy places is even graver. The occupation government’s actions are intended to make the original residents of Jerusalem, Christians and Muslims, into a minority in their own city. This [is done] by oppressing them with heavy taxes and [other] activities of seizing [of land], occupation, demolitions of houses, closing the city off to its residents and isolating it from its Palestinian Arab surroundings. And there is no need to mention the racist isolation and separation wall that is strangling the city as part of the plans to Judaize it and sever its ties to its historic Arab and Islamic identity."
