Op-ed in PA daily: Negoitations with Israel have failed, only solution is resistance
Headline: “Israel has chosen occupation and rejected peace”

“At the end of the Israeli elections [Likud leader Benjamin] Netanyahu was appointed the task of forming the new government. There is no need to define Netanyahu, since he is a symbol of the occupation, settlement, extremism, and opposition to real peace with the Palestinians…
In short, one could say that a large majority of Israel has chosen occupation, settlement, and to continue the conflict. Thereby it shot a final bullet in the ‘peace process’ so the Palestinians will have no choice but to prepare for an all-out resistance…
The question that arises is why were the conflict and the alleged peace process missing from the Israeli election arena, while the cottage cheese container took up a larger portion of it? (refers to wide public demonstrations in Israel over the cost of basic products at the time –Ed.)
The answer is clear – in view of the complete security enjoyed by the occupation, settlements, and the Judaization, unprecedented in the conflict’s history, and in view of the settlement movement’s prosperity and the claim that there is a situation of coexistence with the PA, Israel does not feel any need for real peace, especially because according to its perception, peace means security.
The security situation, the stability, and the prosperity enjoyed by the Israeli occupation in the past few years is unprecedented since June, 1967 war. A report recently published by Israel’s Security Agency stated that ‘In 2012 not even one Israeli was killed (in the West Bank) [for the first time] since 1973.’
Israelis do not feel a pressing need for negotiations to lead to real peace as long as every Israeli feels safe, which has never happened to any colonialist in history.
The Palestinians tried negotiations for two decades and achieved nothing but more occupation, settlement, Judaization, assassinations, arrests, house demolitions, land expropriation and unceasing aggressiveness. It has been proven that relying on the broken arm of the negotiations is tragic and destructive and it is unfortunate that those who support this path, who opposed the path of resistance and Intifada (i.e. PA terror campaign), continue to sell delusions and rely on their negotiation option at any cost, despite the fact that it will lead only to one result – removing the international blockade and isolation from the occupation government…
The Palestinian leadership must proclaim unequivocally and clearly that negotiations will be renewed only according to clear principles agreed by a landslide majority of the Palestinians and they must commit to this…
On the ground, we must awaken and free our people’s energies as part of an all-out popular resistance of the widest possible extent. This includes both an official and a mass boycott of Israeli merchandise and products and a ban on trading them in the Palestinian market, leading an international campaign for laying sanctions on Israel and boycotting it and turning without hesitation to all the international institutes in order to gain acceptance by them and to raise [our] problems before them. Any attempt to return to a pointless negotiation in return for a few crumbs will be an insufferable national catastrophe and this is not to be accepted on any condition.”
Marwan Barghouti – Palestinian terrorist who is serving 5 life sentences for orchestrating three shooting attacks that killed 5 people: one attack in Jerusalem (June 12, 2001) in which Greek monk Tsibouktsakis Germanus was murdered by terrorist Ismail Radaida and another unidentified terrorist, another attack at a gas station in Givat Zeev near Jerusalem (Jan. 15, 2002) in which Yoela Hen, 45, was murdered by terrorists led by Mohammed Matla, and one shooting and stabbing attack at the Sea Food Market restaurant in Tel Aviv (March 5, 2002) in which Eli Dahan, 53, Yosef Habi, 52, and Police Officer Sergeant-Major Salim Barakat, 33, were murdered by terrorist Ibrahim Hasouna.
