Abbas representative: Sick prisoner died from Israel’s “policy of deliberate medical neglect”

“In a speech yesterday (Tuesday) evening [parentheses in source] [April 2, 2013], representing President Mahmoud Abbas in the opening ceremony of the ‘Jerusalem, Permanent Cultural Capital’ events [Secretary-General of the Presidential Office Tayeb] Abd Al-Rahim added (excerpt from Abd Al-Rahim’s speech):
‘We share the pain and console each other over the Martyrdom death (Shahada) of our brother prisoner, the brave fighter… Maysara Abu Hamdiyeh, who died a Martyr (Shahid) as a result of the policy of oppression and deliberate medical neglect in the Israeli prisons. [This policy] is being implemented as part of the accumulating crimes being committed systematically by the occupation authorities against our heroic prisoners.’”

Note: Maysara Abu Hamdiyeh was a Hamas member who served life in prison for recruiting and training terrorists, preparing explosives for suicide bombings, attempted murder, and possession of weapons. He died of cancer while being treated at the Israeli Soroka Hospital in April 2013.
