Abbas: “We will walk to the ends of the earth to defend our prisoners
At a session about deceased prisoner Maysara Abu Hamdiyeh, Abbas stated that the PA will do everything in its power to “defend our prisoners.” Following the death of Abu Hamdiyeh, many PA officials accused Israel of having a policy of medical neglect against prisoners, including PA Minister of Foreign Affairs Riyad Al-Malki, PA Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa Karake, Secretary-General of the Presidential Office Tayeb Abd Al-Rahim, and PA Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.
“President Mahmoud Abbas declared that we will walk to the ends of the earth to defend our prisoners and all Palestinians, and that we have something to say and do in the matter of the prisoners. The President spoke before Fatah’s Revolutionary Council, which began discussions at its Eleventh Parliamentary session yesterday evening [April 3, 2013] at the Presidential residence in Ramallah.
