Non-recognition terminology used on PA TV: “Palestine occupied in 1948”
Vice Chairman of the National Refugee Committee in Gaza, Dr. Bakr Abu Safiyya, on PA TV News:
“As you know, the poverty rate in the Gaza Strip is very high. In the Gaza Strip, as you know, there are no sources of income other than the Palestinian National Authority and a number of small, specialized workshops. There used to be workers who could get to the Gulf states and to Palestine occupied in 1948 (i.e., Israel). However after Israel didn’t fulfill its obligations of the Oslo Accords, and [now] prevents Palestinian workers from entering [the] 1948 [areas] (i.e., Israel) or any place outside of the Gaza Strip… the poverty rate in Gaza has risen.”
