PA TV filler expresses support for Shalit kidnapping
PA TV filler On this Day:
“On this day in 2006, Palestinian fighters (i.e., Hamas terrorists) attacked an Israeli border post, causing the death of two Israeli soldiers. But more importantly, the fighters succeeded in capturing an Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit. This occupied the world for six years. Tel Aviv took advantage of this and imposed a strangling blockade on the Gaza Strip in addition to launching a destructive war at the end of 2008, but they failed to get him [Shalit] back until an agreement was reached with Hamas who had been holding Shalit. More than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners were released by terms of this [agreement].”
Note: In October 2011, the Israeli government agreed to release 1,027 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prison in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who had been held hostage by Hamas for more than 5 years.
