PLO official: Israel attempts to turn the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas into “the alleged Temple”

     “Member of the PLO Executive Committee Tayseer Khaled said that public opinion is surprised by the fact that negotiations are continuing, and emphasized that the PLO did not give the green light to enter negotiations of this kind with Israel…
He added that the reasons that make us continue to recoil from this kind of negotiations are many, among them are the escalating and expanded wave of settlement in Palestinian territories, attacks against civilians, and the invasion of the Al-Aqsa Mosque plazas and the attempt to turn its plazas into the alleged Temple.”

Note: The PA considers any presence of Jews on the Temple Mount an "invasion." However, all visitors are subject to rigorous checks by Israeli security personnel before being granted access to the Temple Mount.
