Zaki: US will not succeed in destroying Syria and dividing the Arab nation
Member of Fatah Central Committee and Fatah Commissioner of Arab Relations and Relations with China Abbas Zaki was interviewed by Syrian Al-Ikhbariyah TV. The interview was posted on Youtube on Oct. 8, 2013.
Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki: ‘First of all, we understand Syria’s position and importance well, and the importance of its unity, its people’s welfare, its army’s strength and its President’s honor. We, too -- in a Palestinian situation -- with Palestine’s importance, also live in an unusual situation. In these unusual conditions in which Syria is living and in which we live, it would be better for us to be aware, and for there to be coordination and cooperation in order to confront the difficult crises with which the Palestinian cause or Syria must deal… Thank Allah, I left [the meeting with Assad] confident that President Bashar Assad’s will, awareness and vision are capable of unifying the Syrians and capable of bringing them out of the crisis it is in in a suitable way.’ … Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki: ‘I am telling our Arab nation: The US is not predestined. Here it is trembling and retreating. It destroyed Afghanistan, it destroyed Iraq, but it will not succeed in destroying Syria, because Syria chose strategic allies who have enthusiasm, willpower, vision and a real understanding of the aspirations of the US and the camp that is hostile towards the [Arab] nation that these [Arab] countries should have been divided. We will turn the Arabs into 151 countries so that Israel will remain the hegemonic power. I now call on the entire Arab nation to respect those who stand firm in face of any conspiracy, and crush that conspiracy.”
