Colonialist and imperialist forces support Israel and the Zionist movement – “the strongest settlement occupation movement in the world”
By Muwaffaq Matar, regular columnist for the official PA daily:
“[The Chinese] nation took its place as leader of the world’s liberation movements. This [fact] made the leaders of billions of people in the Far East stand amazed in face of the Palestinian people’s struggle – [who are] small in number but enormous in its struggle – and our resolve in face of the Zionist movement; the strongest settlement occupation movement in the world, which is supported by mighty colonialist and imperialist forces, such as Britain, ever since the Balfour Promise (i.e., Declaration) [was made] and during the [British] Mandate for Palestine period, and [by] the US, which took upon itself to provide all means of existence, power and fortitude for the occupation state (Israel) [parenthesis in original].”
Note: The Balfour Declaration of Nov. 2, 1917 was a letter from British Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour to Baron Rothschild stating that “His Majesty's government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people” and is seen as the basis for later international commitments to establish the State of Israel.
