Official PA daily: World powers' deal with Iran is result of Western conspiracy to punish Arab Gulf states
By Muwaffaq Matar, regular columnist for the official PA daily
“The [world powers’ nuclear] deal [with Iran] may well be an American-European attempt to punish the Arab Gulf States for their behavior, which contradicts the aims of the American government that supports the Muslim Brotherhood’s plan for ruling Egypt and Tunisia, as well as an attempt to keep the Gulf States in [a state of] permanent fear of the Iranian demon, so that the Arab Gulf States continue to seek the protection of the USA, out of fear of the Iranian nuclear [program].”
Note: On November 24, 2013 the United States, Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia signed a Joint Plan of Action (JPOA) with Iran that put constraints on Iran's nuclear program in exchange for providing Iran with limited relief from sanctions for a six-month period. Critics of the plan, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, argued that reducing sanctions on Iran would empower Iran to further develop its nuclear program.
