PA denies collaboration with Israel on security issues

Headline: “Al-Damiri: ‘Relations with Israel are at their worst; we have not arrested any Hamas cells’”
“Adnan Al-Damiri, official spokesman of the [PA] Security Forces, has denied Israeli claims according to which Palestinian Security Forces in the Hebron and Bethlehem districts arrested two Hamas cells that had been attempting to carry out operations (i.e., terror attacks) against Israel.
Al-Damiri told Ma’an [the independent Palestinian news agency]: ‘We have no information pertaining to this issue, and the Israelis are disseminating false and poisonous information, which has no foundation in reality; this is part of the offensive the Israeli media outlets are waging against the President [Abbas], the Palestinian leadership and the Palestinian Security Forces.’
He [Al-Damiri] added: “We have not arrested any citizen on this account, and if we ever do, [we will do so] according to the law and based on Palestinian, not Israeli, interests.”
He continued: “The Israelis are trying to say that the coordination between the two sides is at its highest level, and are trying to describe relations as if they were in the best [possible] state; but [actually,] they are in their worst [possible] state, in the wake of the recent Israeli attacks on Jerusalem, the entrance of the settlers to the Dome of the Rock, the raising of Israeli flags at the Ibrahimi Mosque (Cave of the Patriarchs) and the expropriation of land in the West Bank.”
