Op-ed in official PA daily glorifies terrorist who led most lethal terror attack in Israel's history
Op-ed by Issa Abd Al-Hafez:
"There [during the Lebanese civil war (1975-1990)], Azmi’s main goal was to harass the Israeli army, beginning with rocket fire on Nahariya and the northern settlements and including operations (i.e., terror attacks) deep inside [Israel] in Ma’alot, Shamir and Zar’it. The most important of these operations included Martyr Dalal Mughrabi’s operation and the Savoy operation in Tel Aviv…
Azmi Al-Sughair, the young, stubborn and headstrong Palestinian, for whom Palestine flowed in his blood and spinal cord, decided to fight and defy, despite a complete disparity in the balance of power. He proved that the Palestinian people resists and does not know the meaning of surrender so long as its national and human rights have not been fully attained. May Allah have mercy on our Martyrs and may they rest in peace.
This is revolution until victory.”
Notes: Dalal Mughrabi led the most lethal terror attack in Israel’s history in 1978, when she and other terrorists hijacked a bus and killed 37 civilians, 12 of them children.
Savoy terror attack - In March 1975, eight terrorists traveled by boat from Lebanon to a Tel Aviv beach. They took over the Savoy Hotel and took guests as hostages. The next morning, Israeli forces attacked and killed seven of the terrorists. Eight hostages and three soldiers were killed by the terrorists during the attack.
