The PA condemns Hamas' support of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt
From an interview with Tayeb Abd Al-Rahim, Secretary-General of the Presidential Office in the Egyptian newspaper, Al-Ahram:
“Q: ‘Did Hamas’ support of the Muslim Brotherhood and its interference in Egyptian affairs affect relations between the PA and Egypt?’
A: ‘We are convinced that what happened in Egypt (i.e., the military coup against the Muslim Brotherhood) is a miracle by any standards – [a miracle] that saved the Arab nations from the dark tunnel which the US government and other powers wanted under the heading of ‘a new Middle East.’
We condemn the damage Hamas caused Egypt’s national security, because this is a blow to the very core of Arab national security. Hamas is a part of the Muslim Brotherhood and has no inhibitions or red lines, and the Palestinian nation and its leadership firmly oppose any interference in Egyptian affairs.’”
