Chairman of Palestinian National Council visits president of Iran
“The Chairman of the [Palestinian] National Council (i.e., the legislative body of the PLO), Salim Al-Za'anoun, met with Iranian president Hassan Rouhani in Tehran, the Iranian capital, yesterday [Feb. 19, 2014]. [In his conversation with Al-Za'anoun], President Rouhani emphasized his country’s support of the Palestinian cause and the assistance [it provides] Palestine in international forums, especially the Islamic ones, on [the issue of] protecting Jerusalem, and in particular, the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
For his part, Al-Za'anoun expressed appreciation of the Iranian position, and demanded additional aid for our people on all levels, especially in Jerusalem and the [Gaza] Strip under siege by the Israeli occupation. Al-Za'anoun mentioned President Martyr Yasser Arafat’s position on the Iranian Islamic Revolution and his visit to Tehran immediately following the Revolution’s victory.”
