Fatah official claims "one hundred percent" of leaflets supporting first Intifada "were signed by Arafat"
Lecture by Deputy Secretary of the Fatah Central Committee Jibril Rajoub at a conference on popular resistance and the Israeli- Palestinian negotiations at Al-Quds University.
Deputy Secretary of the Fatah Central Committee Jibril Rajoub: “One hundred percent of the leaflets published by the Unified National Leadership [of the first Intifada] were signed by Arafat. I was the first Palestinian to be expelled after the first Intifada (i.e., the first Palestinian wave of violence against Israel, 1988-1993). From the start of the Intifada and until I came back, I was the General Commander’s (i.e., Arafat’s) Assistant on Occupied Land Affairs, and I tell you that 90 percent of the leaflets were written by Sari Nusseibeh. You don’t know this – I’m telling you.”
Note: Jibril Rajoub was sentenced to life in prison in 1970 for throwing a grenade at an Israeli army truck. He was released in the Jibril Agreement - A deal between the Israeli government and the terrorist organization the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), led by Ahmed Jibril. On May 21, 1985, Israel released 1,150 Palestinian prisoners, including terrorist murderers, in exchange for three Israeli soldiers who had been taken hostage by the PFLP.
