PA official acknowledges "Jews' excellence," but demonizes Israel as persecutor of Palestinians
“The Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Institute of International Studies at Birzeit University organized a lecture on Israel-US relations yesterday [March 13, 2014].
The lecture was given by [PA Roving] Ambassador [for Special Missions] Dr. Afif Safieh. In his lecture, Dr. Safieh addressed the fact that the Nakba (i.e., “the catastrophe,” Palestinian term for the establishment of the State of Israel) was not an event that ended in 1948, but an event that continues to this day…
[Safieh] noted that, as Jean-Paul Sartre said, the reasons for the Jews’ excellence were Antisemitism and persecution, since these [things] pushed them to work, succeed and excel. In addition, he noted that the Palestinians should benefit from the Jews’ experience, and use the persecution they suffered to achieve social and national unification.”
