Lebanese official on PA TV: "The true mother is the land that gave birth to the Martyrs"
Official PA TV program Palestine This Morning interviewed the director of the social institutions in Beirut, Lebanon, Muhammad Dabdoub, who spoke about Mother’s Day.
The director of the social institutions in Beirut, Muhammad Dabdoub: “The month of March is the month of sacrifice and loyalty. [The anniversary of] the death of sister Dalal Mughrabi as a Martyr (Shahida) is in the month of March; [the [anniversary of] the Battle of Karameh is in [March]; Mother’s Day and International Women’s Day are in [March].”
PA TV host: “And [the month] ends with Land Day.”
The director of the social institutions in Beirut, Muhammad Dabdoub: “And it ends with Land Day. For us, the true mother is the land that gave birth to the Martyrs (Shahids) and gave a great deal. No matter how much we give [the land], we will never [entirely] fulfill our duty to it.”
Note: Dalal Mughrabi - led the most lethal terror attack in Israel’s history, known as the Coastal Road massacre, in 1978, when she and other Fatah terrorists hijacked a bus on Israel's Coastal Highway, killing 37 civilians, 12 of them children, and wounding over 70.
The Karameh battle, or Al-Karameh - In 1968, Israeli army forces attacked the Al-Karameh village in Jordan, where Fatah terrorists were launching attacks on Israel. Arafat used the event for propaganda purposes, declaring the battle a great victory that erased the disgrace of the 1967 Six Day War defeat.
Land Day –an annual commemoration of the general strike and demonstrations organized by Israeli Arab residents of the Galilee on March 30, 1976, to protest the Israeli government's decision to expropriate land in the Galilee for security and settlement purposes, which it later implemented. Israeli Arabs and Palestinians consider it a national day.
