PA minister of Prisoners’ Affairs calculates prisoner statistics
“[PA Minister of Prisoners’ Affairs Issa] Karake set the number of prisoners in the occupation prisons at 5,000, divided between 17 [different] prisons and including 187 children, 183 administrative detainees, 11 members of parliament – of whom the most veteran is MP Marwan Barghouti – 20 female Palestinian prisoners and 30 veteran prisoners expected to be released at the end of this month [March 2014].”
Note: Marwan Barghouti - serving five life sentences for orchestrating terror attacks against Israeli civilians. When arrested in 2002, he headed the Tanzim (Fatah terror faction). After he was convicted and imprisoned, he was re-elected member of the Palestinian Authority parliament.
