PA official glorifies sniper who murdered 10 people
“District Governor of Ramallah and El-Bireh Dr. Laila Ghannam said she had the honor of [receiving] the first letter written by heroic prisoner Thaer Hammad, of the village of Silwad, which was addressed to her, and in which Hammad expressed his pride in District Governor Ghannam. Furthermore, she emphasized that the words of the letter constitute a course of action for anyone devoted to the soil of this homeland.
In her speech during a rally marking [Palestinian] Prisoner’s Day and the anniversary of the Martyrdom of Abu Jihad, at the Silwad school yesterday [April 18, 2014], Ghannam said … the prisoners’ cause would remain the top priority of anyone belonging to this homeland. [She] sent salutations to all the brave prisoners and illustrious female prisoners, conveyed the salutations of the President [Mahmoud Abbas] to those present, and emphasized that he [Mahmoud Abbas] serves as the true guarantor of our people and its fundamental principles.”
Thaer Hammad – serving 11 life sentences for shooting down 7 soldiers and 3 civilians with a sniper rifle from a hilltop in Wadi Al-Haramiya in the West Bank on March 3, 2002.
