Hamas official: "There is no way we will recognize the Zionist entity"
“The deputy head of the Hamas political bureau, Musa Abu Marzuq, reemphasized that his movement would not recognize Israel, and would ‘continue to reject the Quartet’s conditions.’
In answer to a question posed by AFP during a press conference in Gaza, Abu Marzuq said: ‘we will not recognize and there is no way we will [ever] recognize the Zionist entity.’ He noted that the Palestinian factions had agreed ‘temporarily on the establishment of a State of Palestine in the territories occupied in 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital, without recognizing the Zionist entity.’
He said that Hamas ‘rejects the Quartet’s conditions, because they detract from the rights of the Palestinian people.’ He added: ‘We rejected, still reject and will continue to reject any condition that detracts from Palestinian rights. Hamas will remain loyal to the right of return of the refugees and to liberation.’”
