Abbas awards the order of merit to terrorist who, according to Abbas' own newspaper, planned suicide bombings
“[PA] President Mahmoud Abbas awarded an order of merit to Samir Ghattas, [aka] Muhammad Hamza, at [Hamza’s] Cairo home yesterday [June 6, 2014]. The President decided to bestow the order on Hamza in appreciation of his role in politics and media in defense of the cause of his Arab nation and his homeland, Egypt, and in appreciation of his role in the struggle and his commitment to defending the Palestinian people and to aiding its just cause in various and unusual times and places, throughout the years of the Palestinian revolution and the Palestinian national project…
Dr. Samir Ghattas, [aka] Muhammad Hamza… was the founder and editor in chief of the Palestinian military journal Al-Maaraka in Beirut, and worked as an assistant and advisor to the commander-Martyr (Shahid) Abu Jihad – Khalil Al-Wazir…
In addition, he participated in planning and preparing the most prominent self-sacrifice operations (i.e., terror attacks): the capture of 8 Israeli soldiers in the Beqaa Valley in Lebanon in 1983; the suicide attack on the Israeli Defense Ministry in Bat Yam, Tel-Aviv, in 1985; the attack on the nuclear facility in Dimona in 1988.”

Abu Jihad (Khalil Al-Wazir) was a founder of Fatah and deputy to Yasser Arafat. He headed the PLO terror organization's military wing and planned many deadly Fatah terror attacks killing 125 Israelis. This included the most lethal in Israeli history, the hijacking of a bus and killing of 37 civilians, 12 of them children.
Attack on the Israeli Defense Ministry – On Oct. 21, 1985, the Israeli Navy intercepted the Ataviros, a ship carrying 28 Palestinian terrorists from Egypt to Israel. The terrorists were planning to attack the Defense Ministry building in Tel Aviv, take hostages and demand the release of Palestinian prisoners. The ship was intercepted and sunk by an Israeli Navy missile boat; 20 terrorists drowned and 8 were arrested.
Attack on the nuclear facilities in Dimona – an allusion to the Mothers’ Bus attack: On March 7, 1988, Muhammad Abd Al-Qader Muhammad Issa, Muhammad Khalil Saleh Al-Khanafi, and Abdallah Abd Al-Majid Muhammad Kallab hijacked a bus carrying workers to the Negev Nuclear Research Center in Dimona, and murdered 3 of its passengers – Miriam Ben-Yair, Rina Shiratky and Victor Ram. The attack is referred to as the Mothers' Bus attack because many of the passengers were working mothers. The terrorists were all killed by an Israel Police counter-terrorism unit that stormed the bus.
