Abbas advisor warns of plot to bomb Al-Aqsa Mosque with remote control plane
“Dr. Mahmoud Al-Habbash, the Supreme Shari’ah Judge and the President’s [Mahmoud Abbas’] Advisor on Religious and Islamic Affairs, condemned the flying of a small plane equipped with a camera over the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque by a settler. He described this as a step toward [the mosque’s] bombing.
The Supreme Shari’ah Judge explained that the plot to bomb the blessed Al-Aqsa [Mosque] using a remote control plane bearing large quantities of explosives, or with a small plane piloted by a Jewish suicide bomber, exists in the thought and schemes of Jewish extremist groups. This has been confirmed by the Israeli media in recent years.
Al-Habbash said that the danger hanging over the Al-Aqsa Mosque obligates the international community and the Arab and Islamic world to intervene urgently and quickly, in order to force the Israeli occupation authorities to halt their crimes against the places holy to Islam in Palestine, especially the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. He reiterated his call to Arabs and Muslims in the world to visit the Holy City and the holy places more frequently, in order to protect them from the occupation’s schemes to obliterate its [Jerusalem’s] landmarks and judaize it.”
