Fatah member writes in official PA daily: Settlements existed since beginnning of Zionist movement
Op-ed by Yahya Rabah, columnist for the official PA daily and a member of the Fatah Leadership Committee in Gaza
“Everyone knows that the settlement [project], in its aggressive and negative overall sense, was and still is one of the foundational ideas and principles of the State of Israel, just as there was a pioneer ideology and practice among the Zionist movement and its first leaders. The activities for granting legitimacy to all means of gaining control of the land of the Palestinian people continued in numerous ways before the First Zionist Congress in 1897 and after it, from the use of an ambiguous religious text, such as the myth of the divine promise, to the use of money in view of the gradual collapse of the Ottoman state.”
